The Cove
by Lindé Ravizé

It's curving shore protected me
from all I didn't want to see
The shining sun was just too warm
upon my enervated form
The most that I could do that day
was just to let fear slip away

Of privacy I was bereft
except within that rocky cleft
So there within that sacred space
I came to feel the futures grace
Accepting one's mortality
the ultimate reality

What is to come when we expire
will we discover our desire
What consequences do we meet
Which ghosts in heaven will we greet
And will our last breath find us love
Are there grander things above

Abiding hope that fills my heart
is that I really played a part
That I will leave this world improved
and future eyes will have approved
of all I sought to bring to sight
before the ending of the light
